ANGROU PAOMO LAMB AND PITA SOUP You truly have to try this one. There are two methods to receive your paomo. These are a few of the best steamed dumplings you will ever eat. They’re stuffed with beef, and I believe I tasted a little cumin and spices in there as well. Their shape is a signature fashion that I have not managed to find in different areas in China. They’re so plump and round and served with a vinegar and chili dip goes together perfectly! Their restaurant recently moved to a bigger location, which is a lot larger and cleaner. When you visit, make sure to also purchase their majiang liangfen 麻酱凉粉 cold rice noodles with sesame paste, chili oil, and vinegar, along with their sweet and refreshing babaozhou 八宝粥 a cold season, lotus petalseeds and nuts porridge. And don’t forget to purchase their majiang liangpi 麻酱凉皮!
8-BIANG BIANG MIAN – BIANGBIANG面- Xi’an Famous Foods
If you should select a noodle dish to attempt in Xi’an, the Biang biang mian are the winner. These noodles are so great you might move here only to eat them every day! I would really like to do this! The fat hand pulled noodles are coated in a rich chili oil with a solid cinnamon and star anise flavour and topped with carrots, celery, cilantro, beans, and nice large chunks of beef. There are dozens and dozens of biang biang noodle shops in Xi’an all liner the huiminjie area, which makes it a really simple bowl of noodles to find. I personally really enjoyed the noodles at Liu laosi 刘老四牛肉擀面庄.
9-LUZHI LIANGFEN RICE JELLY NOODLES WITH CHILI OIL + MUSTARD
This is another timeless Xi’an street food, and one of the most flavourful too! There are many different areas to try it on the streets of Xi’an, especially in the Huiminjie region. You will find a high concentration on Sajinqiao street. It is essentially a bowl full of a busted up pita bread, fat rice jelly noodles, their specialization five spice thick soup, vinegar, chili oil, sesame paste, plus a half boiled egg. It’s a lot of tastes in one snack, and definitely worth a try! The place we found was profound in a local alley and was the best I’ve ever needed. It also turned out to be rather a famous place, and we didnt’ research it or plan it.
10-LIANGFEN RICE JELLY WITH VINEGAR AND CHILI- Xi’an Famous Foods
Liangfen is just one of Xi’ans most satisfying flavour combos. Thick sesame paste is paired with hot chili oil and chilly jelly noodles using vinegar to give you a sour, spicy, nutty, refreshing slurp which will bring you into a different dimension
